'Thousands of people' sheltering at a northern Gaza hospital have fled following explosions nearby, evacuees leaving the area have told the Associated Press. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to the US announcement of four hour pauses to allow for humanitarian aid.
The West's decision not to pursue a ceasefire in Gaza will have an 'absolutely dramatic' impact on its reputation around the world, US correspondent Mark Stone said.While the West has its reasons - saying Hamas could benefit if fighting stopped - the Arab world is watching the scenes in Gaza, he said.
These people are moving out of homes that have been destroyed.'He continued: 'You can see pancaked buildings across the northern half of Gaza here, utterly destroyed.'Stone said: 'Psychologically, they believe this is what they call a second Nakba, 'the catastrophe', as its known, of 1948 - that moment when Palestinians were displaced from their homes, violently, en masse during the Arab-Israeli war,' said Stone.And there are those who are unable to leave, he added.
