A Palestinian health minister says 12 people have died at al Shifa hospital in Gaza due to a lack of electricity and medical supplies. Israel says it has offered to move babies from the hospital - but the Hamas-led Gaza health ministry says it has not been informed of the plan.
Pope Francis has reiterated his plea for an end to hostilities between Hamas and Israel and called for 'much more' humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. 'Enough, enough brothers, enough', he urged, as he called for all injured people to be taken care of immediately. Addressing the crowds in St Peter's Square, he also said hostages held by Hamas need to be released and warned weapons would never bring peace.
The 86-year-old has already called for the creation of humanitarian corridors and has said a two-state solution was needed to end the Israel-Hamas conflict.You can read more about what the two-state solution involves here. Very little aid has entered Gaza since Israel declared war on Hamas more than a month ago after militants rampaged through southern Israel. Israeli officials claimed about 1,200 people were killed in the attack and more than 200 others were taken hostage.
