The Supreme Court first ruled against the council in 2018.

Hundreds of compensation claims made against Nottingham City Council by its former employees have still not been settled years after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the staff members. Work continues on the case, which relates to the illegal freezing of incremental pay rises in 2011.

The Supreme Court ended up ruling against the council in 2018, with the case being sent to an employment tribunal to agree settlements. After the authority made offers to all those affected, with one former employee having previously claimed that they are owed a "five-figure sum", Nottingham City Council now says that hundreds of these claims are yet to be settled.

David Mellen, the leader of Nottingham City Council, has not provided a figure in terms of the value of outstanding claims but has just confirmed that hundreds still need to be settled. Councillor Mellen also clarified that Nottingham's case had nothing to do with equal pay issues.
