Families say they're staying in their hotel rooms eating noodles from a shop

Holidaymakers claim a severe virus is sweeping through a four-star resort in Turkey, with ambulances pictured outside and babies, children and adults photographed in hospital. One alleged '28 cases' of what they fear is a bacterial or gastroenteritis bug have been recorded at the Club Mermaid Village hotel resort, near Alanya.

The Manchester Evening News has been granted access to a WhatsApp group being used by families to share their horror stories. Many said they paid upwards of £2,500 for 10-night breaks. "They put her on a couple of drips, anti-sickness medication and antibiotics. The hospital has been marvellous. Lots of other people have been ill. We made the hotel aware, but no one would listen. The doctors have told the hotel that it needs to quarantine. I was at reception when a doctor told them to do that.

Another holidaymaker who also fell ill said they spent 'the majority' of their spending money on snacks, noodles and bottled water from the on-site shop. "There has been multiple people hospitalised due to the gastro bug. Most people are staying in their hotel rooms too scared to go out just in case they get poorly. The hotel are taking no responsibility. Everyone is looking at early flights home, but they are too expensive.
