New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she might be willing to work with federal officers if they are cooperative with local efforts, but cautioned that protecting the First Amendment rights of New Mexico's residents remains a focus.
Asked if she'd work with the federal government on Operation Legend, NM Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham says"if we are cooperatively working to address violent crime and gun violence, absolutely. If we're gonna try to incentivize unrest, then that's something altogether different." pic.twitter.com/ssL3g9BoQW
Lujan Grisham told Stephanopoulos that these attacks are ill-conceived and said they are Trump's effort to divert attention from the missteps of his administration as the election nears. Lujan Grisham also slammed the administration for their failure to lead on combating the novel coronavirus as cases rise in New Mexico. She said the number of cases in her state is"way too high" but blamed the administration for their failure to put forward a national strategy, arguing that"what's going on around the country affects everyone in the country."
