“The job growth that we’re seeing is universal across the United States, as we all come out of this pandemic,” said Michael Noel, a professor of economics at Texas Tech University. That gave confidence to Rodriguez, who said overregulation hurts her business. She believes Gov. Abbott is the leader who would look out for small business owners if he were re-elected. During the discussion, the governor also vowed to use half of the $27 billion budget surplus to cut property taxes next year.
