Laboratory solarflares reveal clues to mechanism behind bursts of high-energy particles Caltech NatureAstronomy

thanks Markus Aschwanden and the other, anonymous, reviewer for their contribution to the peer review of this work.Springer Nature remains neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims in published maps and institutional affiliations. Experiment circuit diagram. The plasma part of the circuit is represented as an inductor and a time-dependent resistor.

The plasma inductance is assumed to be 50 nH, which is obtained by simplifying the plasma loop as a half circle loop of wire with 5 cm loop major radius and 1 cm minor radius. The voltage and current spikes are both peak functions, so the corresponding resistance change is presumed to be also a peak function. We use Gaussian functionis the peak resistance value, andis related to the full width at half maximum .

Hybrid magnonics in hybrid perovskite antiferromagnets - Nature CommunicationsHybrid magnonics in hybrid perovskite antiferromagnets - Nature CommunicationsRecently there has been interest in exploring the coupling between magnons for use in information processing, however, this is hampered by the fact that such coupling is forbidden due to the different parity of the acoustic and optical magnons. Here, Comstock et al show that the interlayer Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya-Interaction in a layered hybrid antiferromagnet can allow for strong coupling between the acoustic and optical magnons, offering a pathway for magnon coherent information processing.
