'To say I'm shocked at what M&S have done at this store, would be an understatement.'
Marks and Spencer customers have slammed the new modern-style cafes at its Trafford Centre and Handforth Dean megastores, likening them to a "poor functioning McDonalds". Café-goers have left a string of one and two star reviews on TripAdvisor since the new look cafes launched in the stores.
Shoppers leaving reviews since January have slammed the new digital ordering system, the waiting times for food, and products flashing up as out of stock on the digi-boards. One said they find the new look "Joyless" and "soulless" while another described it "like a fast food place". "People were queuing and we decided not to stay and went elsewhere. Felt more like McDonalds , which is ok if that’s what you want but not for us. Very disappointed."
Rosie Lom wrote: "No cash accepted at McDonald's type ordering board- suffice it to say that McDonald's DO take cash at the counter! American service! They have lost my business now, always used to order food with my coffee reward vouchers, but will never have anything there now." Commenting on the new look Handforth Dean café, visitor James H headlined his review: "Not just a bad cafe, an M&S bad café". He wrote: "One of the pleasures of having lunch in a café is choosing from the sandwiches and cakes on display.
