After visiting jazz clubs in his younger days, James Gill yearned to see New Orleans
Tributes have been paid to well-renowned journalist who started his career with the Accrington Observer.

James had a great passion for cricket and football. He also loved horses and owned race horses in New Orleans.For his second book, “Bloodstock: Breeding Winners in Europe and America” he travelled to the U.S. to conduct research. He met his first wife, Mary Helen Witten, in Kentucky and then took a job with the Houma Courier in 1978.
