Players from 16 teams, representing 16 countries, had been working toward a trophy and $1,000 cash prize at the end of the tournament. However, many of the players say it's about so much more than that.
Through the game of soccer, the more than 150 players, many them who speak a variety of languages, were united on Roberto Clemente field in Lancaster. Many immigrants and refugees, like Dal, say soccer is something they have always been able to rely on, no matter the challenges they’ve faced.“When you have a moment to just say 'OK, forget about everything that’s going on, put things on pause,' I think that’s the best feeling ever," said Thomas Sengeh, coach of the West Africa team.
