Premiums are skyrocketing
Insurance experts are warning drivers of record-high premiums. The announcement comes amid claims some motorists are being quoted up to an eye-watering £18,000 for coverage.
The figures are based on data from more than six million quotes generated in the last three months - with young drivers suffering the most. An 18-year-old will now pay an average of £2,995 to be covered for a year, up 89% in 12 months. Samantha Bell told Belfast Live: "A lot of people are having the same issues and asking the same questions. I have heard of others being quoted up to £18,000 for insurance for the year.
“We asked them how people were able to pay so much money in the lead-up to Christmas, and they said that a lot of people were just putting it on credit cards for their kids. I just can’t see where this ends, people just won’t be able to pay that.
