This year’s record-setting hot summer is continuing past Labor Day with excessive heat warnings for the week ahead.

The National Weather Service extended an excessive heat warning advisory for Lower Washington County areas beyond the holiday weekend. The forecast office predicts dangerous heat across the St. George area, Zion National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area through 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect sunny conditions for the duration of the heat warning with a high near 105 degrees on Labor Day. On Tuesday, the high may reach 108, and Wednesday the temperature could rise up to 105 in St. George.
There’s also a heat advisory in place for portions of central, northern and southwest Utah, including Brigham City, Snowville, Ogden, Bountiful, Salt Lake City, West Jordan and Cedar City, with highs of 103 degrees. The National Weather Service recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, staying out of the sun and not leaving children or pets unattended in cars.
