Erik ten Hag may hope Ajax stay away from one member of his coaching staff at a time when Man United need stability.
Stability has been the buzzword around Manchester United for a number of years now. Numerous managerial changes in the last two years prevented consistency from forming.
Last season started poorly and there was a repeat this term, although the boat has been rocking for longer this time around. Ten Hag and his staff have just about been able to weather the storms they have faced so far. He is often seen by the side of Ten Hag during United training, both experiencing what life is like at a globally-acclaimed football club. Meanwhile, back in Amsterdam, Ajax are having a disastrous season.
However, De Telegraaf claims that Ajax are eyeing Van der Gaag as their next manager. At such a shaky time as this at United, Ten Hag will be keen not to lose his right-hand man. But it’s an opportunity that his companion may find irresistible, should it open up.
