Heavy rain and hail up to the size of a nickel are expected for some communities. Saskatoon and Regina remain under thunderstorm watches
Thunderstorm are expected to develop late Thursday afternoon and move east, lasting into the evening.
Environment Canada issued thunderstorm watches for most of the province Thursday morning. By late in the afternoon, those had been upgraded to warnings for the Rural Municipalities of Happy Valley, Surprise Valley, Bratt’s Lake, Lajord, Monet, St. Andrews, King George, Milden, Caledonia and Scott. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds and/or torrential rainfall. Saskatoon and Regina remain under thunderstorm watches.
Environment Canada says some of the severe storms are located 10 to 40 kilometres southwest of Regina and are moving southeast. As of late Thursday afternoon, there were thunderstorms 10 km east of Rosetown and Elrose, along with one east of Big Beaver. Lastly, there’s line of storms from Estlin to 10 km south of Wilcox.More On This Topic
