Driver arrested on suspicion of DUI after fatal I-15 crash near Fallbrook [Breaking]
A driver who crashed his pickup into two cars Sunday on Interstate 15 in the Fallbrook area — killing two people, including an infant — was arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Erick Arambula, 23, of Oceanside, is accused of causing the deaths of Courteney Taylor, 29, and her 4-year-old daughter, after he crashed his Toyota pickup just after 3:10 p.m. on southbound I-15, north of state Route 76, CHP officials said in a news release Monday. Arambula was arrested and accused of various offenses including felony driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.On Sunday, Arambula was driving a pickup north on Old Highway 395 when the truck veered onto the right shoulder of the road and crashed into a chain link fence, CHP officials said.
The pickup went through the fence, down an embankment and into southbound lanes of traffic on the I-15, officials said. The truck collided head-on with a Kia sedan and Tesla sedan, officials said. At least one of the cars ended up on its roof.Arambula suffered major injuries, and three other people had minor injuries, officials said. They were all taken to a hospital.
