Since nightlife in New York has essentially shut down, drag queens are among the many people in the service industry who are out of work. Last week, the usually large audience turnouts at events like RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties started to dwindle. Then, as the possibility of a shelter in place order loomed, all of their shows were canceled. This prompted queer people with a large platform, like Netflix’s Fran Tirado, to crowdsource funds for the community.
But even in times of crisis, drag queens know how to make people smile. These days, they’re getting even more creative on social media.
