The University of Houston’s Center for Mexican American and Latino Studies confirms Sunday the former director of the program, Dr. Tatcho Mindiola Jr. has died.
– “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Tatcho Mindiola Jr. , a leader whose vision, dedication, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the University of Houston, the CMALS community, and all who were fortunate enough to know and work with him. His leadership inspired us to strive for excellence and to believe in the power of unity and purpose. Dr. Mindiola’s legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the mission he so passionately championed.
retired as the director of CMALS in 2015. He was also a sociology professor during his time at the University of Houston and responsible for numerous publications. He also received numerous awards and accolades for his work.“I am saddened to hear about the death of Dr. Tatcho Mindiola. He was a trailblazer who led the way for many current Hispanic leaders. He taught and led students to make a difference and be proud of their heritage.
