The Dallas Cowboys added two Buckeyes on Tuesday, trading for Johnathan Hankins and signing Kendall Sheffield to their practice squad.

Hankins heads to Dallas after four-and-a-half seasons with the Raiders. While Hankins was the Raiders’ starting nose tackle in his first four seasons with the franchise, his playing time had decreased this season, in which he appeared in five games and made 10 total tackles for Las Vegas. Sheffield joins the Cowboys’ practice squad after he was waived from the Houston Texans’ injured reserve list earlier this month. He spent his first three NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in 38 games with 20 starts from 2019-21, but has not played in a regular-season game this year.
With the additions of Hankins and Sheffield, the Dallas Cowboys now have six former Ohio State players under contract. Hankins joins Ezekiel Elliott, Noah Brown and Malik Hooker on the Cowboys’ active roster, while former Ohio State long snapper Jake McQuaide is on the Cowboys’ injured reserve after tearing his triceps earlier this season.
