Tony Smith, 57, and his wife Doris, 50, left their home in the Isle of Wight to spend their later years in Hurghada, a beach resort town in Egypt, and they say they're now 'living the dream'
A couple has found a clever way to escape high UK living costs by settling in Egypt for their retirement.
Tony believes if they were still living in Britain, they would still be working due to its high cost of living - but now, their outgoings are much smaller. He said: "We had to be available whenever and go to the offices being cleaned to make sure the work was being done properly." One of the reasons this couple kept going back is due to the warm-hearted locals. As Tony puts it: "We have been coming back regularly for 20 years because the Egyptians are the most welcoming people you could ever meet. We fell in love with Egypt and all the Egyptian people."
