Emergency services were called to the Hotel Victoria in Newquay around 10.50am on Saturday over concern for the welfare of a baby. The infant was pronounced dead ‘a short time later’, Devon and Cornwall Police said, adding that next of kin have been informed.
In a statement, the force said: ‘A 27-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child. ‘They have been released on police bail whilst enquiries continue.’ The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirmed it was called at 10.43am.
