Police officers were called to the scene of the tragic incident at around 6.15am on Monday
. The man's body was discovered in Openshaw Park, off Pimhole Road.
Police said the circumstances surrounding his death are not believed to be suspicious and enquiries are ongoing. Officers closed off all entrances to the park this morning, with emergency services stationed on the roads nearby.Forensic officers were pictured at the scene earlier and a fire service Tactical Response Unit was also called. St Thomas’s C.E. Primary School, on Pimhole Road, was forced to shut today due to the incident.
Parents and children were turned away from the school on the first day of term. Some of the cordon has now been lifted but a small scene remains in place. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 6:15am this morning , we were called to an incident at Openshaw Park, Bury.
"Emergency services responded where sadly an adult male was found deceased at the scene. The circumstances are believed to be non-suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing."
