DULZURA, Calif. – A wildfire in Dulzura that forced 1,500 residents to evacuate is now 90% contained, Cal Fire reported Sunday evening.
The Border 32 Fire was 4,456 acres as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and Cal Fire said 294 firefighters would be at the scene overnight into Monday to continue mopping up hot spots and increasing the containment line.The fire, which was first reported at 2:17 p.m. Wednesday, destroyed three homes, six outbuildings, three RVs, and one commercial structure, Cal Fire said.
The Fire Chief said the fire is not expanding, but extreme heat conditions will be difficult for firefighters working to put it out. As of Saturday evening, the fire was 80% contained, according to a Cal Fire tweet.Five people with no injuries had to be rescued; in addition, one civilian suffered injuries Wednesday and was treated on scene. Two inmate firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries, Cal Fire said.This @ReadySanDiego map shows the areas affected by the #Border32Fire.
