An industry in flux means one thing: fashion is looking to the past. Nostalgia proliferates when profit margins condense and so, as creative directors play musical chairs and ecommerce behemoths shutter, we’re banking on the good old days to get us through. The time portal has specifically thrown us back to the Swinging Sixties, where hedonism was high and hemlines were higher.
“We were trying to break from , to give people their own personal identity and self expression,” explains Nigel. “Granny was romantic and colourful in a sense.” Visiting 488 Kings Road was a trip in itself. Exterior murals varied from peppy pop art portraits of Jean Harlow to the chassis of a Dodge Automatic car that appeared to zoom out of the front.
