The Bears messed up their two-minute drill in quite a creative fashion.
That is, it seems, illegal, and the Bears were penalized 15 yards as a result, taking them out of field goal range.The turf at Soldier Field wasn’t in good shape, as there was a pregame drainage issue amid rain in Chicago. Though the standing water was cleared away for the game, conditions are still less than ideal.
The timing is notable as it relates to the Bears’ efforts to build a covered stadium in Arlington Heights, a suburb of the city. This is unlikely to help the case that they should stay at Soldier Field, which is located more centrally within Chicago.
