Quarterback Ashton Dubose leads the Bears in District 29-6A opener.
Ashton Dubose accounted for five touchdowns to lead No. 2 Brennan to a 48-10 victory over No. 7 Harlan in its District 29-6A opener Friday night at Gustafson Stadium.
Dubose threw for 346 yards on 21-of-26 passing with scoring tosses of 33 and 20 yards. He also scored on runs of 4, 7 and 14 yards. The Bears improved to 2-1 and won their second straight since opening with a 35-34 loss against Steele. Brennan improved to 3-0 all-time against Harlan.Brennan outgained Harlan 505-210 in total yardage. Entering the game, the Hawks had given up14 total points.
Dubose passed to Avron Carter for a 33-yard score on the Bears’ first play from scrimmage. The Hawks answered with Jacob Gonzales’ 6-yard run that tied at 7 with 8:34 in the first. The Bears added 17-yard TD run from Jason Love, Dubose’s 7-yard run and a 20-yard scoring pass from Dubose to his twin, Aaron Dubose, in the final minute of the first half that made it 27-7 at intermission.
