Robson admits he did foot the bill for the entire carry-out last time Aberdeen won a trophy back in 2013.
The Dons manager had to foot the bar bill for the bus trip back from Celtic Park. Robson had been late for a pre-match meeting and instead of taking a fine he told his Aberdeen teammates he would pay for the celebratory drinks on the way back to the Granite City.
“But I’ll tell you what I’ll do. Go and win the cup and if we win the cup I’ll buy the biggest carryout you have ever seen’. They were right, ‘let’s do that!’ And I tell you what – they did do that! That was a sore one on my bank balance. “It was, especially for myself. I must have been 34 or 35 and I had just come back to Aberdeen. I had always wanted to play for Aberdeen but I had been away on my travels and when I did I was lucky enough to win a cup with Aberdeen.
Robson recalled: “The biggest frustration that year was that we felt we should have won two cups because we got knocked out by St Johnstone in the semi-final. It was so frustrating and we also got beat in a few finals after that. It is an opportunity to get to a final but you also have to remember it is a good Hibs side we are coming up against. When they are on their day they are hard to come up against. We need to make sure we perform.
