WASPI women affected look set to receive compensation payments of between £1,000 and £2,950
A landmark report says millions of women are owed compensation are being hit by the state pension age change and urged the government to "do the right thing".
When it rose from 60 to 65, and then to 66, without sufficient notice, thousands came together to form the WASPI campaign in 2015. After nine years, they have been calling for a one-off compensation payment to be made to those affected. Who will get compensation? The report from the PHSO suggest that women born in the 1950s and affected by the change to the state pension age should receive a payout of between £1,000 and £2,950. Campaigners say the average victim missed out on over £50,000 in pension payments.
"This is unacceptable. The department must do the right thing and it must be held to account for failure to do so.
