Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) says millions of women lost out because of this change.
Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride is likely to appear in the House of Commons before the Easter recess to address the ombudsman’s recommendations about changes to women’s state pension age, Penny Mordaunt suggested. Labour MP Justin Madders told the Commons: “The ombudsman himself has said the DWP has failed to offer any apology or explanation for its failings.
“That is why we need the Secretary of State to come here, and the ombudsman has indicated they have taken the extraordinary step of bringing this report to Parliament’s attention now because they realise the importance of it, and the urgency of some action being taken.
