Texas lawmakers mull 4th special session for key bills as leadership conflicts stall legislature.
On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick's office announced that Patrick was diagnosed with viral pneumonia early Thursday morning and will be working from home until he recovers. Senators used the word "cancelled" to describe Sunday's Senate convening. Patrick's office was not immediately available to comment on the Lieutenant Governor's condition and how it could impact a fourth special session, if it should come this week.
Shortly after the Senate's brief meeting on Sunday, House Speaker Dade Phelan released a statement, criticizing the lack of action on HB 4 as "extremely disappointing."
