Letters to the Editor
Readers are estatic about the Rangers winning the World Series; loved the column on childhood; offer advice to Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson; and have questions for Texas legislators.
“Let your tears flow,” says Whitfield. Talk about a good baseball cry, I’ve been on one for the last two weeks and it’s been awesome! Watching Manager Bruce Bochy and company win this whole thing was one of the most emotional rides I have ever been on.
However, another J.M. Barrie quote comes to mind, one that like de Vinck’s column makes a seasonal reference. “God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.”Re: “Bad Move, Mr. Mayor — Dallas City Hall needs leaders who will put city above partisanship, not start a GOP mayoral group,” Oct. 26 editorial. The editorial called Mayor Eric Johnson’s announcement that he was becoming a Republican a “bad move.
By forming a coalition with the City Council members, the mayor has accomplished much for Dallas. By sharing his story with mayors and city governments from both red and blue stripes, he could transcend partisan party politics which often causes deafness when good ideas are presented by the other side.
