Johnston took a ball to the face and attempted to play on before being replaced by Anthony Ralston.
The right-back was named in the starting XI for the clash at Easter Road as Celtic looked to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership but he went down midway through the first half after taking a ball directly to the face. He went off to receive treatment from the Hoops' medical team and initially returned to the field of play to play on.
But only a few moments passed before he went down again and Brendan Rodgers was taking no chances from there. The Canadian was replaced by Anthony Ralston on 25 minutes. It's believed Johnston suffered from a suspected concussion although it's yet to be confirmed.
