The show debuted on Friday night

Northampton's Alan Carr appeared on the first-ever episode of Joe Lycett's new show Late Night Lycett, where the two comics took part in a sketch that left fans "crying with laughter". Alan, 46, was joined by Dame Joanna Lumley, Katherine Ryan and Alison Hammond as the first guests of the Channel 4 comedy programme.

Having just spoken about King Charles' state visit to Germany, Joe brought up the topic of immigration. Mentioning new government plans, Alan can be heard saying "no, no no" with a nervous smile on his face as he does not know what to expect. When asked what he thinks of it, Alan said: "I haven't looked into it," before being told by Joe to read from the teleprompter behind the camera. "I'll rather just keep it, I quite like having a career," Alan said.

Alan then dramatically waves towards the audience as he says: "Bye career, bye!" before getting back into character. Viewers found the whole skit hilarious, and took to Twitter to express their thoughts. Another said: "Getting back to how live C4 was back in the day, Tv worth watching. @joelycett Thank you we haven't laughed so much at tv for while."
