But domestic abuse charity Refuge said the safety of women and girls has been “forgotten” at the global AI Safety Summit taking place in Bletchley Park this week.set out the capabilities and potential risks posed by AI in a speech ahead of the landmark summit, from cyber attacks and fraud to an increase in child sexual abuse images.
“I think it’d be naive to think this is only happening in one school in Spain. I really worry that we’ll see more and more reports of this sort of technology being abused.” “Part of the issue is how just how accurate and how realistic the content has got,” said Dan Sexton, CTO at the safety watchdog.Ms Görücü said there is an “urgent and very crucial need” for a new legal framework to protect people online, even though the law struggles to keep up with AI advancements.
The charity said is it “extremely disappointing” that no organisations tackling violence against women and girls appear to have been invited to the Prime Minister’s AI summit. She called for the Government to discuss how women and girls can be protected from AI, technology being used to enable “intimate image abuse and other forms of technology-facilitated domestic abuse”.
