Channel 27 is one of more than 150 local television stations to go dark on one of the country’s largest pay-TV providers, according to Deadline.
The outage impacts DIRECTV, U-verse and DirectTV Stream subscribers.Nexstar also said it was unable to reach an agreement with DirectTV to extend its distribution agreement to Oct. 31. It said the outage is affecting rights to local news including critical weather reports as well as Women’s World Cup and Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game.
“We have presented a proposal for fair value compensation, based on the importance and value our programming brings to our viewers. Despite our tireless efforts, DirectTV/U-verse has refused our fair offer and doesn’t seem to care if you must go without,” reads ABC27′s message. temporarily forcing ABC27 off the air until a contract was solidified.
