Parts of the UK could see snow, frost and sub-zero temperatures this weekend, the Met Office has said. Northern and rural areas of Scotland could experience minus 4C temperatures and snow overnight on Friday into the weekend.
Stephen Dixon, a Met Office spokesperson, told the PA news agency: "This is fairly usual for this time of year... some wintery showers, particularly in higher grounds of Scotland. That may be the kind of most widespread frost we've seen so far this season. Next week temperatures are forecasted to be "more settled" for most of the UK and during the latter part of the week, there is a chance of warmer weather in the south of the UK. On Thursday, heavy rain gradually moved from the west of England to the south east, causing a yellow weather warning to be issued at 9pm - the warning will end at 8pm on Friday.
