From the annual Mount Marathon race in Seward to the iconic car launch in Glacier View, there are plenty of ways to celebrate this Fourth of July. Here's a guide to what's happening in Anchorage and around Southcentral for the holiday:
. It’s exactly what it sounds like: Residents launch old vehicles, decorated for the holiday, off a cliff to their demise on the riverbed. Gates open at 10 a.m. at the Glacier View River Retreat, and cars start to fly off the cliff at 2 p.m. Bring a chair, because spectator vehicles will not be allowed into the viewing area. Food available for purchase on site. Tickets are $10 for children and $20 for adults.The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is hosting a parade and associated festivities on Monday.
