The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggested younger men wait longer between Pfizer or Moderna doses to decrease the rare risk of a heart inflammation called myocarditis.

The CDC recommended younger males ranging from the ages of 12- to 39-years-old wait at least eight weeks to get the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna after the first one.

For other individuals like the elderly and immunocompromised, the CDC recommends the original wait times between doses. According to National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, myocarditis is a rare inflammation of the heart muscle. The condition while rare can cause serious health issues.
