A state park in Santa Cruz known for its 1897 Victorian home and sea cave landed at No. 5 on Yelp list's of the 50 best state parks in the U.S.
Yelp listed five California state parks on its list of 50 must-visit state parks in the U.S., andWilder Ranch boasts stunning coastal views. It was a dairy ranch with roots dating back to the 1800s. Theacquired the land in 1974, five years after the Wilder family closed the dairy farm’s operations.
Visitors can time travel by enjoying the 1897 Victorian home and 1896 water-powered machine shop on the property. But the park also hosts hiking trails and sea caves, including Fern Grotto Beach, which you can find by hiking the 2.5-mile Old Cove Landing Trail. “The cliffs are chillingly high, but if you’re brave enough to peek over the edge, there’s a natural shelf that the waves crash into and fill with water that then waterfalls back into the Pacific. It is so, so cool,” SFGATE editor-in-chief Grant Marek described Wilder Ranch State Park’s sandstone cliffs.
