‘Yellowstone’ airs scene shot in Venus, Texas, during mid-season finale

The Johnson County town was the backdrop as Kevin Costner’s character delivered a dramatic speech.

Cast and crew film a scene for "Yellowstone" in the town square of Venus, Texas, in November. The scene aired during the show's latest episode Saturday., the show from Taylor Sheridan, takes place in Montana. But that didn’t stop Venus, Texas, from making a brief appearance on Sunday’s mid-season finale.

Dutton is the main character in the fifth and latest season of the drama. He controls the nation’s largest contiguous cattle ranch, which is in constant conflict with what it borders — an expanding town, a Native American reservation and America’s first national park. But trouble happened. While delivering his speech, Dutton found his reign as governor threatened and he left the podium in a rush. The showfans turned out in droves in November to watch filming and see the town transformed into a set. The town square and surrounding buildings were made over to give the look of Hardin, Mont., About 150 people signed on as extras.
