Yankees center fielder Jasson Dominguez's procedure was done on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.
The surgery, performed by Dr. Keith Meister, will take 9-to-10 months of recovery time, the Yankees announced. That timeline would keep Dominguez sidelined until mid-June or mid-July.
The switch-hitting Dominican was bothered by some discomfort in his throwing elbow late before his third game on Sept. 3, but he continued playing for almost another week before the elbow pain got hurt on Sept. 10. That led to Dominguez being scratched from the Yankees’ lineup, then he had an MRI the next day, which shockingly revealed a tear.
The issue with pushing to come back too early is there’s a risk for reinjury and you could be apprehensive about pain or re-injury,” Dr. Stein told NJ Advance Media. “So that’s the balance that they have to find with Dominguez.”
