A Leicestershire Police officer suffered 'serious bite injuries'
Police say two officers were attacked by an XL Bully dog while they were searching for a wanted man. Officers from Leicestershire Police went to a property in Ibstock on October 26.
When they entered the kitchen they were attacked by the dog, which has been confirmed as an XL Bully, Leicestershire Live reports. The dog is now being held in secure kennels. A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended an address in Lewis Close, Ibstock, at around 4.40pm on Thursday with regards to a man wanted by police. On entering the address, two officers were attacked by a dog which was being kept in the kitchen.
“One officer sustained serious bite injuries to his upper leg. He has since been discharged from hospital. The second officer sustained a small laceration to his finger. “Following an examination, the dog has been confirmed as an XL Bully breed. This dog and a second dog, a pit bull type breed, were seized from the address and remain in secure kennels. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident. There have been no arrests.”
