A man attempting to steal a car in Chicago's Loop died after the car crashed into a column during a struggle with the driver, police said.
A man died Wednesday evening after he and a woman allegedly attempted to steal a sport utility vehicle in Chicago’s Loop, police said.
A woman was in an Infiniti FX35 in the first block of East Lake Street when a man and another woman entered her SUV about 5:45 p.m., according to police.A struggle ensued as the duo attempted to steal the SUV from the driver, and the vehicle continued forward — plowing into a column, authorities said.
The crash trapped the three people inside, but firefighters helped get them to safety, and all three were taken to hospitals, police said.The man allegedly involved in the attempted carjacking was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. Authorities said they did not know the condition of the two women, but said the woman who attempted to steal the car had been taken into custody.Advertisement
