Researchers in Finland put 1,000 dogs to the test to find out which were the most clever - and which weren't.
The world's smartest and dumbest dog breeds have been revealed after a series of experiments carried out at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
The Mirror reports that the scientists in Finland have identified which breeds of dogs are the most clever, and which ones are not - with one breed that may come as a surprise. The 13 breeds that were examined include the border collie, Belgian Malinois, English cocker spaniel, German shepherd, golden retriever, Labrador retriever and the broad category of 'mixed breeds' - and here are the results.
Dr Katriina Tiira told The Sunday Telegraph: "The Belgian malinois stood out in many of the cognitive tasks, having very good results in a majority of the tests."
