Every year, the World Gravy Championships takes place Rose 'n' Bowl pub in Stacksteads, Rossendale
It's the messiest and downright strangest event of the year, but the World Gravy Championships is preparing to make its comeback.
Wrestlers wear fancy dress and dive into a pool of gravy for a two-minute fight with an opponent. Judges then award points for entertainment value, with Andy Holt one of the event's organisers speaking to the BBC about the unique competition. He said: "It is not about serious wrestling; it is just about having fun." Entry prices are at £3 for adults and £2 for children, with food and drink stalls available.
Mr Holt told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We are struggling a bit this year for some strange reason." However, you needn't have wrestling experience to take part in these gravy championships.
