Millions of workers will see more pay in their pockets from this week
A change announced by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt in last month's Budget comes into effect this weekend. The latest 2% cut to National Insurance begins on Saturday, April 6, which is the start of the new tax year. It follows a previous 2% reduction at the start of 2024.
Alastair Douglas, CEO of TotallyMoney, said: “This Saturday marks the start of the new financial year and one where 27 million people should see a cut to the amount of National Insurance they pay, saving the average worker around £450 per year. But while the extra money will be welcomed, it won’t plug the £1,500 gap left in people’s pockets as a result of the cost of living crisis.
