Pudus are the smallest deer species in the world and are native to the lower Andes of Chile and southwest Argentina.

Species Survival PlanThe deer will only reach approximately 14 to 18 inches in height at the shoulders and weigh between 14 and 30 pounds.Their first offspring, Chile, was born in 2020 and now lives at the Bronx Zoo in New York, while their second offspring, Ande, is still at the Woodland Park Zoo.

The pudus live in the zoo’s Temperate Forest habitat, where the best time to see the fawn is around 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
