New Marvel merchandise for the upcoming DoctorStrange2 confirms that Wong is still the Sorcerer Supreme in the movie.
New merchandise for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals that Wong will still hold the title of Sorcerer Supreme in the upcoming sequel. First introduced in 2016's Doctor Strange as the librarian of Kamar-Taj, Wong, played by Benedict Wong, has since become a fan-favorite character in the MCU.
In No Way Home, it's revealed that Wong now holds the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Although many fans expected Strange to become The Ancient One's replacement following her death, Strange explains that, because he was blipped out of existence for five years with Thanos' snap, Wong got the job on a"technicality.
The confirmation that Wong is still Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange 2 opens up a number of interesting storytelling possibilities for the sequel. Strange is visibly annoyed in Spider-Man: No Way Home that Wong got the position over him, so it's possible that a rift will form between the two characters, especially considering Strange went against Wong's advice and broke open the multiverse.
Wong is both more experienced and more levelheaded, making it no surprise that he was given the title of Sorcerer Supreme over Strange, blip or no blip. While Strange has evidently come a long way since his introduction in 2016, No Way Home proves that he still has a long way to go in order to earn the Sorcerer Supreme title.
