Nominations in the 4 top non-acting Emmy fields — producing, directing, writing, and editing — fell short of gender parity, but there was a very modest increase overall in the number of women. More in our full emmys2022 report:

Television is an industry where “gender parity” in non-acting jobs is often discussed but rarely achieved. And when it comes to the Primetime Emmy Awards, the total numbers of women who get nominations in non-acting categories have continued to stall at below 40%every year. For the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards, 33% of the non-acting nominees are women. This is barely an increase from last year, when women were 32% of the non-acting nominees for the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences , which over sees and produces the Primetime Emmy Awards, put its own spin on the 2022 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. In a press release about the nominations, the Television Academy stated: “It was a year of notable achievement for women.

The 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 12 on NBC, with Peacock offering livestream access on demand. The 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be presented over two days, during Emmys.com webcasts on September 3 and September 4. FXX will televise a Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony highlights special on September 10. All ceremonies will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
