She stated that Father Neil McGarrity, 58, had his arms round the teen's waist at his chapel home in Glasgow's Riddrie in March 2018.McGarrity is on trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court accused of engaging in sexual activity with the girl.
He is further accused of sexual related charges against three other girls at two city churches and other places between December 2017 and February 2020. The witness told the court today in her evidence that she went to McGarrity's home for lunch with her mum and sister.The witness said:"When I re-entered the kitchen area where we were eating, he had his arms round my sister's waist and she had her arms round his waist.The witness added that she could not remember if she said anything or approached them.She replied:"She reacted like a girl in love would react with the man that was touching her.
"I remember going to the other room with my mum and went back into the room where Father Neil and my sister were standing nose-to-nose and he had his both hands on her waist - I thought this was really strange." Mr Lavelle told the witness that she failed to mention in her evidence about her sister putting her hands around McGarrity's waist.When asked why she did not say this in her evidence, the witness stated she still could not remember.
