The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched after a report said that a vehicle went off an overpass on I-69 south at the State Highway 99 feeder.A woman survived a harrowing crash Saturday after her vehicle went off an overpass and into a creek, officials said.
As they approached the feeder near the Valley Ranch community, the motorist who called police flagged them down. He explained that the vehicle went off the bridge above White Oak Creek, about one-mile south of State Highway 99.When the deputies arrived, they found a Volkswagen lying on its side, partially covered in brush, in a ravine under the White Oak Bridge, a police report states. First responders found a woman in the vehicle and were able to get her out.
“Had the witness not seen the vehicle go over the side it was undetermined if the woman would have been able to escape the vehicle on her own as it would most likely not have been seen from the roadway above,” a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said. The Volkswagen then struck the side of the feeder bridge before plummeting down the embankment and partially rolling over, officials said.The Department of Public Safety investigated the crash along with the Montgomery Sheriff’s deputies.
